Review Scene: DO RE MI – Corner Hotel, Friday February 8
If there was such a genre of music called ‘art punk’ Do Re Mi certainlyqualified. I last saw the original line-up of Do Re Mi back in 1987 opening for Simple Minds. It was a short, sharp set from memory and it was filled with a number of their radio hits that were popular at the time.

Marshall Mathers, EMINEM, touted as a Rap God, lived up to the hype and delivered a divine performance at Melbourne Cricket Ground last night, 25th February 2019, smashing concert attendance records with 80,708 fans at his RAPTURE show – albeit maybe that number included some parent chaperoning but by the end of the night, they too were fans.

Snap Scene: Faster Pussycat – Prince Bandroom 15th Feb 2019
As a mainstay of the live L.A scene and featured on the Decline of Western Civilisation 2 – The Metal Years, the band was more in line with the rawness of Guns ‘N’ Roses and Motley Crue rather than the polished pop finish of Poison and Warrant.

Some have described TMK as Dirty Rock, blending elements from bands such as Sonic Youth, The Cramps, Nine Inch Nails, The Cult and Joy Division. THE MERCY KILLS took their name from a line in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. “It was a mercy killing”. 2009 saw this bratty new outfit emerge writing songs, recording and getting as much stage time together as they could inject into their already heart pounding system.

Star Scene: Shaun Ryder ~ Happy Mondays
Shaun Ryder’s scene is domestic, and clean. The Happy Mondays’ founder states: “My scene at the moment, because I’ve had kids again -we’ve got a nine and ten year old. All my free time now […]

Snap Scene: Teenage Fanclub – Corner Hotel 12th Feb 2019
Formed in 1989, Teenage Fanclub are a rare thing: a group who have grown old with their audience, reflecting their changing lives and shifting concerns. When Teenage Fanclub’s crowd looked at the band in 1991, they saw people just like them: boozy, boisterous and rambunctious. When they look at the band now, they still see themselves in them: they’re like the old best friends you see a couple of times a year, and come away from each meeting with your affections revived.
