Review Scene: Mary’s Top Ten Gigs of 2016

Being passionate about music, and also being extremely indecisive, choosing and rating a Top Ten Gigs of 2016 list was extremely difficult for me to compile. I had the same problem with my Top Ten Gigs of 2015, and I am positive that as soon as this article is published, I will once again remember more gigs to add. But I will stop at ten …

  1. Comeback of the year – gig of the year – well done Craig! The Vines – Corner Hotel – Thursday 27th October

  2. The SIGIT from Indonesia! Definitely my favourite discovery of 2016 – The Sigit, Cherry Bar, Melbourne – 29th April

  3. Kid Congo and the Pink Monkey Birds – NGV, Friday 26th August

  4. Baby Animals warmup gig with The Mercy Kills, Cherry Bar Melbourne 20th May

  5. The Monkeywrench & Warped, Cherry Bar, Sunday 20th Nov

  6. Those Pretty Wrongs, The Gasometer, Richmond – 24th March

  7. Xylouris White, Northcote Social Club, 27th March

  8. As suave as f*ck! Don Walker & the Suave Fucks and Liz Stringer, Caravan Music Club Oakleigh, 4th June

  9. Jackson Browne, The Palais, St Kilda – 1st April

  10. Brian Wilson – The Palais, St Kilda, 3rd April

Okay, one more … the last gig I went to in December 2016 – Dubioza Kolektiv @ Corner Hotel – Thurs 22nd Dec. So much fun combining rap, rock and rhetoric.

AND my favourite festivals for 2016 were:

  1. Cherry Rock 016, ACDC Lane Melbourne 1st May
  2. A Day on the Green with Violent Femmes, Hoodoo Gurus, Rochford Winery 12th March
  3. Los Almiros Festival, Almiros, Greece – 5th & 6th August

What were your favourite gigs of 2016?

Stay tuned for my Top Ten PHOTOS of 2016
