American rock band Jimmy Eat World performed at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Thursday 16 March 2023. Celebrating almost three decades and ten studio albums, it was the Arizonan band’s return to Australian shores for the first time in six years. The four-piece is composed of lead vocalist and lead guitarist Jim Adkins, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Tom Linton, bassist Rick Burch, and drummer Zach Lind.
Jimmy Eat World’s commercial breakthrough came with the release of several singles from their 2001 album Bleed American, four of which charted within the top 20 positions of the Alternative Songs chart, with “The Middle” reaching No. 1. Their follow-up album three years later, Futures, featured the No. 1 song “Pain”.
