American singer Cyndi Lauper performed at A Day on the Green at Mt Duneed Estate in Geelong on Friday 31 March 2023 as part of her Australian Tour with Rod Stewart. The 69-year-old’s career has now spanned four decades. Her album She’s So Unusual (1983) was the first debut album by a female artist to achieve four top-five hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including the iconic Girls Just Want to Have Fun.

She has released eleven studio albums in a range of styles – Memphis Blues became Billboard’s most successful blues album of 2010, and three years later, she won the Tony Award for best original score for composing the Broadway musical Kinky Boots, making her the first woman to win the category by herself. Known for her colourful hair and clothing, Cyndi Lauper has sold over 50 million records worldwide and was inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
