Californian psych-indie rockers Black Rebel Motorcycle Club performed at Under The Southern Stars festival at Hastings Foreshore Reserve along Western Port Bay on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula on Saturday 12 March 2022.
Formed in San Francisco during 1998, and named after Marlon Brando’s motorcycle gang in the 1953 film The Wild One, BMRC is Peter Hayes (vocal, guitar, harmonica), Robert Levon Been (vocal, bass, guitar), and Leah Shapiro (drums). Returning to Australia for the first time since 2018 when they toured behind their eighth and most recent studio album Wrong Creatures, they brought their dark brand of brooding garage rock that had the festival crowd shaking along to their always-energetic presence.
