On March 22, 2025, Sydney’s indie rock band The Crystal Set made a triumphant return to the stage at Melbourne’s Brunswick Ballroom, performing live for the first time in over 25 years. This special appearance was part of Ups and Downs’ 40th Anniversary Tour, celebrating the legacy of two iconic Australian bands from the 1980s.
The reformed Crystal Set featured original songwriting duo Russell Kilbey (brother of The Church’s Steve Kilbey) and Phil Maher, joined by Robbie Warren (Died Pretty), Craig Hooper (The Reels), and Brisbane drummer Rudi Weber.
