women in music Having just successfully debuted in Sydney as a part of Vivid Ideas, Society of Tastemakers and Elegant People (STEP) have teamed up with LISTEN to present what could be their most important music discussion yet, ‘Women in Australian Music‘.

This coming July 1 at The Toff in Town the discussion panel will centre around a variety of topics including some of the challenges women face in the Australian music industry and how we can work together to encourage a new generation of female leaders.

Coming together for this panel will be Clare Bowditch as moderator; LISTEN co-founder and acclaimed musician Evelyn Morris; staff writer for Rookie and senior editor at The Good Copy, Brodie Lancaster; Melbourne musician and respected venue booker, Emily Ulman; music journalist and author of Cherry Bomb Jenny Valentish; and Helen Marcou of SLAM and co-owner of Bakehouse Studios.

Performing a DJ set before the panel discussion will be Whiskey Houston and recent Triple R ‘Album of the Week’ recipients Totally Mild will give a special set to close the night.

Taking place at The Toff in Town on Wednesday July 1 ‘Women in Australian Music’ is set to be a melting pot of interesting perspectives, ideas and actions surrounding the current Australian music industry and scene.

Tickets are $10 online and $15 on the door.
