Due to overwhelming demand, including selling out her entire Brisbane Comedy Festival season as well as the first week of her Melbourne International Comedy Festival season, award-winning South African/NZ comedian, URZILA CARLSON, has now announced an extra show in Melbourne.
Only days after announcing an extra Sydney show in July, Carlson – who is fast becoming one of our much-loved Kiwi imports – will perform additional dates of her brand-new hour of stand-up, Unacceptable, at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival show in the Main Town Hall on Friday 21 April at 9.30pm.
Tickets for the extra shows will go on sale 12pm today Tuesday, March 14. For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: livenation.com.au.
A regular panelist on Network Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention?, Carlson will perform the Australian debut of her new show, Unacceptable, at Brisbane Comedy Festival shortly, followed by Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival and Perth Comedy Festival from March to May.
More than happy to call a spade a spade, Carlson’s new show explores when it became unacceptable to like meat and impossible to process gluten. And why isn’t it okay to call people out when they’re being assholes? You don’t need to like the latest hipster indie banjo band just because everyone’s saying they do. It’s actually okay to think they’re shit – you’re not alone.
South African-born, and now a household name in New Zealand as a cast member of TV3’s hit comedy panel show 7Days, Urzila took to the stage for the first time in 2008. Since then she’s racked up an impressive array of awards including Best Female Comedian at the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2016 NZ Comedy Guild Awards, as well as the coveted TV3 People’s Choice Award two years in a row at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival.
Urzila regularly sells out her live shows in NZ, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth, and has been seen on Network Ten’s annual Melbourne International Comedy Festival Oxfam Gala and The Great Debate when in Australia. Her first book, a memoir entitled Rolling with the Punchlines, has just been released through Allen & Unwin.
Don’t miss one of the quickest wits in the biz. Tickets to Unacceptable are selling like hotcakes. “Effortlessly likeable… stream of belly-laughs” – The Age
“Carlson is a gifted and accomplished comedian – an absolute must-see.” – Appetite for the Arts, NZ
