Scene News: Transgender Comedian Chloe Black in her Melbourne Premiere

Chloe Black is no spring chicken. She has been doing stand up for 17 years but 2
years ago came out as transgender and has been performing as her true self ever
since. Her insights into living as both genders have become an absolute hit with
audiences. Her outlook on dating, coming out, living true to yourself and finding a
comfortable pair of shoes have been making people laugh long and loud. Her
comedy has been lauded by straight and queer audiences alike, striking a great
balance between profound insight and unique hilarity. Do yourself a favour and go
and check her out.

TRANSISTOR SISTER is the new stand up show by Tasmanian comedian Chloe Black.
Chloe began her stand-up career in Adelaide (at the famed Rhino Room) over 17
years ago. She was a Raw Comedy National Finalist in 2001 although she may have
performed back then under another name. She is a broadcaster on Edge Radio in
Hobart as co-host of Film Central and her own show “It’s Always Midnight
Somewhere”, which she says is a phantasmagorical mix tape of film-scores and
punk rock, every Sunday night.

“When I came out as transgender I seriously almost quit comedy but I found out the human
desire to tell stories is the most natural instinct I know, I couldn’t stop if I tried. This show is funny and insightful and the process of it’s creation helped me through my transititon. Also, I’m incredibly proud of it. Please come check it out.” – Chloe Black
