Scene news: The Shrine confirm for CherryRock015 in AC/DC Lane

The final four acts have been confirmed for CherryRock015 and they are The Shrine from Los Angeles, California, Warped from Geelong, Clowns and The Ugly Kings. It’s an “all-killer, no-filler” line-up of solid rock.

Autosave-File vom d-lab2/3 der AgfaPhoto GmbHLet the esteemed Harley Rother introduce you to The Shrine, “On the night of November 6th, 1979 Black Sabbath was at their most drug addled and explosive standing. They were on tour supporting their newly released Never Say Die album and had a night off in Los Angeles. After knocking back a few drinks at the infamous Rainbow Bar, they decided to check out the local rock scene at the Whiskey A-Go-Go. Arriving late, they caught the tail end of a set by The Circle Jerks. Feeling intimidated yet inspired, they rented a rehearsal space and spent the rest of the night jamming. For an unknown reason they exclusively played Thin Lizzy material and Keith Moon was sitting in… These events never took place. But if they did, the results may have sounded similar to Los Angeles’s The Shrine.

“Formed in 2008, The Shrine play a house-rocking breed of heavy, psychedelic, riff based Rock n’ Roll. Their debut, recorded on vintage reel-to-reel tape, by local hero Dave O. Jones and under the auspices of the notorious Chuck Dukowski, is the perfect soundtrack to any debaucherous gathering of long-hairs. If you and your rag-tag group of riff-raff friends are planning a road trip to Humboldt County to “score”, this is the album you need to be listening to on the way. The Shrine is Josh Landau on guitar/vocals, Courtland Murphy on bass, and Jeff Murray on Drums. Dig it.”

Clowns play hardcore punk rock and if you want to find out more about them just check out the NAME of their website,

Warped? For 21 years Warped has been an evolving rock and roll animal. For Benny and Cris, Warped has been a life long commitment. Having started the band as 13 year olds in Geelong and being considered veterans at the age of 18. Put simply by Cherry Owner and Booker James Young, “Warped’s guitar riffs are THE BEST!”

The Ugly Kings play progressive alternative blues rock. Too intellectual an encapsulation for you? Try this: POWER BLUES!

So, these 4 acts round out the 2015 CherryRock line-up. As usual there will be 2 stages, 13 acts and no clashes. Already announced is the monster coup of Red Fang (USA) the volcanic sounds of Beastwars (NZ), the geetar power of HITS (Bne), Child (Cherry Awards 2014 Act of the Year), the hirsute decibels of Fuck The Fitzroy Doom Scene, heavy Horsehunter, The Simpsons-inspired doom rock duo Dr. Colossus, tenth birthday celebrations from My Left Boot and Los Hombres Del Diablo (Syd) in a complete line-up that obviously oozes the heavy stoner rock genre that Melbourne has grown (literally, on faces, heads and backs) to love, nurture and produce.

Red Fang, The Shrine, Beastwars, HITS, Child, Warped, Clowns, My Left Boot, F*ck The Fitzroy Doom Scene, Horsehunter, Dr. Colossus, Los Hombres Del Diablo and The Ugly Kings. With MC James Young and DJ Mermaid.
