Scene News: STONEFIELD release new single ‘Stranger’

It is with great pleasure that today we reveal the new single ‘Stranger’ from Melbourne’s favourite psych-rock four-piece, Stonefield. ‘Stranger’ premiered yesterday via triple j, a swirling new sound that fortifies the high anticipation for the band’s sophomore album.

‘Stranger’ is like a heavy heartbeat, exploding into pulsating guitar riffs and melodic commandments. Wielding a range and lyrical vision far beyond her years, lead singer Amy Findlay describes ‘Stranger’ as a song based on craving something that you know is bad for you. “You always want what you can’t have.”

The Findlay sister also reveals that the single serves as a new direction for the band; “It was one of the last songs written for the record and has a feel that we hadn’t yet written with.”

Since the release of their debut self-titled album in 2013, Stonefield have spent the last three years hard-out gigging. Locally and internationally, they’ve secured sought-after spots on the world’s biggest stages including Glastonbury, The Great Escape and a recent electrical stint at SXSW 2016.

Last year saw the collective share a taste of new music with ‘Golden Dream’, which lead the sisterhood on a whirlwind tour across metro and regional areas of Australia. The band was also crowned ‘Best Rock Work of the Year,’ at the 2015 APRA Awards for their single ‘Love You Deserve’ taken from their debut self-titled album. The sisters then capped off a dream-like 2015 opening for Fleetwood Mac and it doesn’t look like they’ll be slowing down anytime soon.
