There’s something magical about the combination of hot Summer nights, flowing drinks and a dynamite soul/ funk band that sets a dance floor on fire and you can guarantee Soul Cupcake will get your groove on faster than you can say “Stevie Wonder”.

The Melbourne based soul/funk ten-piece are mega ex- cited to be releasing their brand spankin’ debut album entitled ‘Now!’ and are playing a set full of songs from the album which features smokin’ originals as well as your favourite soul-funk covers at The Spotted Mallard on Friday 20th February.

The outfit are a celebration of big funky rhythms, brassy bouncy fun times, a cornucopia of super-tight funk.  Soul Cupcake certainly wear their influences proudly on their sleeve and play in the key of Tower Of Power, Stevie Wonder, D.I.G., Sharon Jones, The Bamboos, Michael Jackson and Snarky Puppy.

The groove-laden, horn-driven colossus that is Soul Cupcake always deliver rock solid performances, and will transform The Spotted Mallard into a soul, pop and funk fiesta. With supports provided by The Immortal Horns get there at 8pm to be served up a slow cooked, soul-drippin’ feast. On top of cutting-edge, groove- driven originals you’ll be treated to warped, funkified re-arrangements of popular songs by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson & Earth, Wind & Fire.

The groove merchants behind the muscle of Soul Cupcake are Rocky Loprevite (lead vocals), Jacinta Caruana (backing vocals), Susie Goritchan (backing vocals), Daimon Brunton (trumpet), Tarko Sibbel (alto sax), Greg Day (bari sax), Adam Rudegeair (keyboards), Adam Orlando (guitar), Lucas Wentworth (bass), and Adam ‘Chuggy’ Donaldson (drums).
