Scene News: Rosie Tucker Releases ‘Lauren’ The Third Single From Forthcoming Album

“It’s a wordy song about not being confident enough to say the right words, and Tucker manages to make that interior struggle into something we can all sing along to.” – Stereogum

Just a week out from the release of their album, ‘Never Not Never Not Never Not’, LA songwriter and poet, Rosie Tucker has gifted us with one last sneak peek releasing their new single ‘Lauren’– out everywhere now via Dew Process and New Professor Music.

Tucker shares that, “Lauren is a song about having a best friend who you tap goodnight to through the plywood wall of the big ugly pink Victorian house you both live in and what happens when that friend gets sick very suddenly.”

The track follows lead-single, ‘ Gay Bar’ [] an anthem about innocence & freedom in the queer community, and ‘ Habit [], which aims to describe the process of coming to terms with and moving through feelings of regret. ‘Lauren’ see’s Rosie Tucker sift through a series of conflicting notes and tempo to bring prominence to themes and lyrics within the song. ‘Lauren’, composed around Rosie Tucker’s LA roommate’s struggle with bipolar twists in and out of choppy guitar chords to mimic the struggles emotionally expressed throughout Tucker’s poetically written lyrics.

‘Lauren’ now stands alongside ‘Habit’ and ‘Gay Bar’ as early highlights from Tucker’s forthcoming Never Not Never Not Never Not album, due March 8, already receiving praise from the influential Talkhouse [] website and Stereogum. The record boasts a number of glimmering pop gems that are destined to set up a home in your heart, from the already released cuts, to the woozy charmer ‘Spinster Cycle,’ and the undeniably anthemic ‘Lauren,’ it’s a record that reveals more and more of itself with each new listen. Most simply put – it’s one of those LPs you’ll be raving about to all of your friends with taste before you even reach the end.

Along with the release of Never Not Never Not Never Not, Rosie Tucker and their band is set to perform at SXSW and the Treefort Music Festival in March, kicking off what is destined to be a big year of shows for Tucker on top of a huge year of music. Dew Process is stoked to be along for the ride.
