It’s almost time to ice the beers and crank up the bbq for the return of Melbourne’s favourite triple j Hottest 100 party Bowled Over 2016, which is all set to return for its sixth year on Tuesday 26 January (Australia Day).
Held at the historic St Kilda Bowls Club, 2016 promises to be the biggest yet for Bowled Over, with the lineup headlined by none other than local-heavyweight Harts.
Playing all the instruments, writing all the songs and even recording and producing everything single handedly, it’s no wonder the Aussie “one-man music making machine”, virtuoso guitarist, songwriter and producer was asked by Prince himself to fly over the America to jam at his home.
Adelaide trio Grenadiers will be serving up their hard-hitting brand of punk rock which has been on high-rotation all year, with their album then going on to secure a highly sought after triple j Feature Album in 2015.
And hailing from Melbourne, IV League combine their interests in alternative rock and progressive pop to create a style that is refreshingly their own.
Against the backdrop of triple j’s Hottest 100, which will be live on the dial all day long thanks to UE Boom, punters again can be treated to their very own private oasis at the Secret Garden, fitted with deckchairs, bean bags, and umbrellas.
2016 sees the addition of our new Picnic Park, a great place to stop and grab a bite to eat with plenty of picnic tables, shade, and of course food.
The boys from Leonard’s House Of Love will also be dishing up from their pop-up chicken shop, as well as delicious Aussie favourites such as sausages and salads which will be available from our True Blue BBQ.
The more active punters can head to the Bowling Green to play barefoot lawn bowls which is open to everyone, or for the move competitive why not put up your hand for a chance to earn the coveted bowling cup.
VIP guests can enjoy the plush surrounds of the UE Boom Summer Club, with dedicated bowling lanes all day as well as drink service, plush seating, phone charging stations, and umbrellas; situated adjacent to the bowling green.
