The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is set to become part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in a special collaboration with ARIA winning comedic trio, Tripod.
Tripod said This Gaming Life is their all-new love letter to gaming. The new Melbourne work by comedic superstars Tripod, who have written and performed masterfully for TV, radio, cartoons, stage musicals and countless hit live shows, will be an exciting adventure for audiences who are yet to experience the sound of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
“It’s our one shared passion. We’ve played loads of videogames; it’s probably what has kept us together for almost twenty years. Needless to say, we’ve played them all and we’ve got plenty to say about gaming.
“This show is about obsession, passion, hobby-based relationships. This is a show for anyone who was ever into anything,” said Tripod.
Tripod’s sophisticated songwriting and off-the-cuff comedy has always been fairly self-contained, but their obsession with games is so epic that for this project, only the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will do.
Conducted by Grammy-nominated game-music composer Austin Wintory (Journey, the Banner Saga), This Gaming Life will take audiences on a comedic adventure through retro games, mind games, power games and the effects gaming obsessions can have on relationships. Tripod and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra: This Gaming Life is proudly a part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
