Track By Track and album stream c/o Rolling Stone Australia
“Whatever juju/alchemy/disturbed darkness made Jim Morrison don a pair of leather trousers and shock the world out of its apathy — this guy is full of it!” – Kim Salmon
The debut album from dark-hearted Ballarat baritone Matt Malone is out NOW through Heart of the Rat Records. S.I.X came out last Friday, with an exclusive Track By Track for Rolling Stone Australia. Matt is launching the album with an extensive East Coast tour, starting with the Melbourne launch atDane Certificate’s Magic Theatre on Friday, May 13. He has also curated an eight-act blowout dubbed The Devil in the West Fest at The Reverence forSaturday, May 28. Other dates bring him through Newcastle, Wollongong, Canberra, Adelaide, and beyond.
Matt Malone is a singer/songwriter and experimental musician whose unique fusion of the traditional and avant-garde has earned him a place as one of the year’s most promising Australian artists. He has shared the stage with such legends as Kim Salmon (The Scientists), Hugo Race (The Bad Seeds), and Wendy Rule, travelling across the country beautifying and annihilating audiences with his passionate, hypnotic performances. His music is hard to pigeonhole, landing somewhere between Johnny Cash, Howlin’ Wolf, Rowland S. Howard, and Swans. In a time where carbon copies are everywhere, here is someone who refuses to be anything but an iconoclast.
S .I. X is out now on 180-gram vinyl, CD, and all digital formats throughHeart of the Rat. MATT IS AVAILABLE NOW FOR INTERVIEWS.
