Jack Howard and The Ambassadors of Love return to The Saucer stage this November to perform a special Sunday matinee featuring the brilliant compositions of Burt Bacharach.
After a sell-out performance earlier in the year to launch their first 7-track record, Jack Howard and The Ambassadors of Love will present a show full of heart and full of soul.
The songs of Burt Bacharach are undeniable – ‘The Look of Love’, ‘Alfie’, ‘Say A Little Prayer’, ‘Close To You’, ‘What The World Needs Now’ plus so many more, you will sure to be swept off your feet and swooning for more.
The band features the fabulous Michael sisters, Heather and Marj, on flute, violin and vocals, John Berto on guitar and vocals, Greg Murray on drums, Rob Walker on bass and Amy Valent Curlis on percussion.
Burt Bacharach is one of the most accomplished popular composers of the 20th Century. In the ’60s and ’70s, he was a dominant figure in pop music, racking up a remarkable 52 Top 40 hits. In terms of style, Bacharach’s songs differed from much of the music of the era.
David’s unsentimental, bittersweet lyrics were often in striking contrast to Bacharach’s soaring melodies. While in the late 1970s Bacharach’s name became synonymous with elevator music (due in great part to its sheer familiarity), a closer listening suggests that his meticulously crafted, technically sophisticated compositions are anything but easy listening.
This one’s always fun, so get along to support Jack Howard & the Ambassadors of Love at the Flying Saucer Club in November.
