Scene news: J Mascis – Tickets Selling Fast For Melbourne Recital Centre Show

‘“Wide Awake” – his perfectly paired duet with Chan Marshall, which barely breaks a whisper – show that Mascis is now as skilled at quiet as he is with loud.’ – Rolling Stone
With a history in music as long as your arm and fingerprints all over the guitar-driven alternative music scene that date back to the 80s, Dinosaur Jr’s own Jazzmaster-wielding front man J Mascis is bringing his solo show to the prestigious Melbourne Recital Centre for one very spooky night on Friday 13 February with support from Adalita.

Understandably, tickets are selling fast for this event, so secure yours now via or (03) 9699 3333.

Following 2011’s highly acclaimed Several Shades Of Why, J returned in 2014 with his second solo studio album Tied To A Star. Recorded and produced by the man himself, the record features performances by Ken Maiuri (Young@Heart Chorus), Pall Jenkins (Black Heart Procession), Mark Mulcahy (Miracle Legion) and Chan Marshall (Cat Power).

With a distinct persona that is both intelligent and thoughtful, J Mascis in solo mode sees him pare back on his signature fuzz-laden sound and deliver a more restrained mid-tempo acoustic folk in a way that only J Mascis can do. At times exotic and ponderous, fans of his enigmatic wizardry will still delight in sprawling guitar solos and soft falsetto vocals.
