Following an International tour as a member of Blondie, formerSex Pistols songwriter/ bassist and Rock Hall Of Fame inductee Glen Matlock released today his long-awaited, timely and politically pertinent new solo album Consequences Coming and single of the same name,
Glen is a singer/songwriter/guitarist with a highly-esteemed resume. The original bassist and songwriter of the Sex Pistols, Matlock is responsible for co-penning some of history’s most iconic songs, “Anarchy In The UK,” “God Save The Queen” and “Pretty Vacant”. After his time with The Sex Pistols, Matlock went on to form several well-regarded bands including Rich Kids (with Midge Ure). He has collaborated with such artists as Iggy Pop, and Primal Scream, and is also a highly in-demand player, playing live with the likes of the legendary reformed Faces.
Matlock has released several solo studio albums, most recently engaging legendary guitarist Earl Slick (David Bowie / John Lennon) and Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats) for his 2018 album, ‘Good To Go’. “Keep On Pushing,” a track from the album was deemed “Best Song In The Universe Ever” on Little Steven’s Underground Garage (Sirius XM).
Glen is currently the touring bass player for Blondie and is slated to appear on their forthcoming studio album.
Matlock’s new deal with Cooking Vinyl will additionally see the label re-release two of his previous solo albums: 2010’s Born Running, and 2018’s critically acclaimed Good To Go.
His persona these days may be that of a stylish rock gent, but as always the former icon of punk remains politically passionate. This album is nothing short of Glens call to arms to tackle this current diabolical period of governance. “The album was written and recorded in Britain with a posse of seasoned but on point performers.” says Matlock. “All done during the debacle that is Brexit and the rise and fall of the turgid Trump episode in the US. These songs reflect my take on the whole sorry mess that has ensued.”
“The tunes are pretty catchy too…”
On the title track to the album Glen has this to say:
“I like to see it as a jaunty Tamla Motown-esque tune that takes it’s title from the faint but nevertheless distinctly glowing dim light at the end of the tunnel that people are getting hip what’s been going down and that we might soon start seeing a little payback around here.
Hope springs eternal but I don’t Half hope I’m right.
Great playing and catchy choruses may even make a topical clarion call.We live in hope”
