Scene News: Australian singer-songwriter DAN BRODIE releases video for ‘(I Can Feel) Love Closing In’ from his forthcoming album, The Ballad of Cowboy Dan.

Australian singer-songwriter Dan Brodie shares a brand new Music Video to accompany ‘(I can feel) love closing in’  the second single from his forthcoming studio Album, The Ballad of Cowboy Dan.

A mesmerizing meditation on the mysterious nature of love and fate, the new video sees Brodie team up with fellow bandmate and singer-songwriter, Katie Bates, as they walk the stark red neon lit city, in search of a connection.

Shot and directed by Ben Mastwyk (who Dan also performs with in his cosmic country super group, The Millions), the video is a love letter to their hometown of Melbourne, in all it’s after-dark glory, with a series of beautifully choreographed missed encounters, weaving through stark vintage era interiors, before exploding onto the street with a vivid bouquet of colours in the song’s final climatic fever dream.

Dan states:

“Ben and I have a great love for Melbourne and wanted to capture some of the wonderful architecture and streetscapes which are illuminated after dark, without relying on the usual tropes associated with the visual representation of the city. In navigating their way around, we wanted the two characters to exist as part of the landscape and yet remain separate, representing the inner journey we all embark on as we seek connection with one another.”

‘(I can feel) love closing in’ sees Brodie team up once again with producer Michael Hubbard (from Melbourne’s Shrimp Shack Studio) creating a lush musical landscape of drums, accordion and pedal steel (care of Lost Raga’s Shane Reilly) and coaxed along by the achingly seductive backing vocals of Katie Bates; a shimmering palette for Dan’s tender and evocative vocal delivery.

Dan Brodie’s forthcoming (ninth) studio Album, The Ballad of Cowboy Dan, is out in 2023.
