Scene News: Changes Reveals Massive Line-Up Of Speakers For Talks Program, And Artists For Live Music Showcases

On July 3 and 4, the contemporary music summit and live music program will together spark discussions across the realms of MUSIC, TECH, TALKS and IDEAS.

A collaboration between The Push, Yarra City Council, Music Victoria, VMDO, APRA AMCOS and the Victorian music community, CHANGES returns for its second year in 2019.

A dynamic roster of over 20 labels, agencies and music organisations form the live music curators for CHANGES in 2019. Across ten venues bordering Johnston and Brunswick streets in Fitzroy, CHANGES partnering curators will showcase Victoria’s vibrant contemporary music community over two nights – demonstrating why Victorian artists are setting a new agenda that demands national and international attention. Today CHANGES can announce Alex Macfarlane, Alice Skye, Allara, Civic, DRMNGNOW, Elizabeth, Good Morning, Gordon Koang, Hexdebt, Jess Ribeiro, Laneous, Melody Pool, Miss Blanks, Mojo Juju, Palm Springs, Philly, Porpoise Spit, SaD, Spike Vincent, These New South Whales, Summer Flakeas some of the 100+ showcasing artists for 2019.

Leading the direction of the industry summit at CHANGES are global leaders in music tech and innovation, mentors, experts and storytellers whose experiences will inform the direction of the music industry.

This year, CHANGES delegates will hear from the forward-thinking managers and agents behind some of the world’s most popular artists, including Anna Benefield (Panache Booking), Lucy Beach (Paradigm Talent Agency), Matthew Langille (People’s Champ Management) and Cameo Carlson President of MTheory, an artist-first management company that works with the likes of FKA Twiggs, Diplo, Kacey Musgraves and A$AP Rocky.

Changing the way we think about music’s potential to form communities are Eric Hu and Justin Tam from Eternal Dragonz, the global Asian art collective taking inspiration from Asian diaspora experiences.

Also joining us are festival and live event specialists including Robin McNicol from AC Entertainment, the producers of festivals and events including Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival; Fabrício Nobre from Bananada, Goiânia, Brazil’s beloved week-long music festival; and Ana Garcia, whose time as director of No Ar Coquetel Molotov has seen the festival expand into five South American cities.

CHANGES is curating a series of one-on-one meetings, group workshops and unique masterclasses that will enable delegates and speakers to start new conversations and develop skills for defining their collective future. Returning to the program after its successful launch during out inaugural year is HEAR ME OUT, the interactive listening session that invites participants to play their music to a selection of experts and receive real-time feedback.

FOCUSED INTERACTIONS is a fluid networking session open to all CHANGES attendees. It’s your chance to prepare and meet face-to-face with a number of industry professionals including record labels, booking agents, managers, publishers, media and promoters.

Expect to meet, collaborate with and learn from LA-based artist Mz. Neon Music, Jacob Adams from Attitude is Everything, Boiler Room Brazil director Monique Dardenne and Alethea Beetson from Digi Youth Arts discussing the future of Indigenous music, during this program stream.

MUSIC, TECH, TALK and IDEAS all come together under one umbrella: CHANGES. Two days: July 3 and 4, headquartered within the stunning Abbotsford Convent. CHANGES 2019 Summit and Live Music Showcase Passes are on sale now at
