Q&A Scene: Sol Nation

Tell us about your new tour?
We’re very excited to be hitting the road to promote our debut album ‘Melting Pot’.

We love passing through little towns and visiting the OP shop to find bargains… and a great local Pie.

We kickstart in Darwin then up to Arnhem Land and back down to Vic and then NSW… and Qld later on the year.

How would you describe your sound in food form and why?

The album is called Melting Pot for that reason,we throw everything in, spice it up and let it settle… the end result is cooked upbeats and spicy Rhythms..

Which song resonates most strongly and why?

There’s not really one particular song and even there if there was we usually change it while playing live… we love experimenting and trying new things and I guess thats what makes us different.

Any on the road anecdotes?

We love passing through little towns and visiting the OP shop to find bargains… and a great local Pie.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

We draw inspirations from each other and our stories, from our favourite artists ,from our friends, family and life in general.

What’s next for you?

We are on tour from the end of July to promote our album, we start in Darwin then up to Arnhem Land and then back to Vic and up again to NSW… while in Arnhem Land we plan to film a video clip so keep an eye out for that.
What’s your scene?
Sunshine and Good Times.

About Sol Nation

Melbourne seven piece Sol Nation are excited to be hitting the road to promote their debut album Melting Pot around various parts of Australia late Winter into early Spring. The band have created one of the most exuberant, colourful, intoxicating and exciting stage shows in Australia. With a charismatic, high energy, infectious live show, and a strong global conscience, Sol Nation is a must-see musical experience. They guarantee a performance to remember via their own unique fusion of Reggae, Samba, Funk, Salsa, East Timorese folksong and African dance music and are a great reflection of their multicultural hometown of Melbourne.

Sol Nation are impassioned musicians who draw upon their wealth of years of experience performing in other bands : most notably at its heart lies the reggae experience of Paulo Almeida (The Dili Allstars), the rock charisma of Colin Badger (Painters & Dockers), and the fiery ardor of songstress Deline Briscoe (The Black Arm Band). Each musician in the group lends their musical prowess, and the end result is a tight, well honed live show, which proves impossible to not dance along with.
